Developmental assessment is essential in the provision of primary care for infants, children, and adolescents because it helps identify symptoms that could indicate problems in development by paying attention to their physical, social, mental, and emotional conditions (Burns, Dunn, Brady, Starr & Blosser, 2013). Developmental assessment is also important since it helps in identifying instances of the possibility of disability and thus, informing an immediate course of action to mitigate the signs.
