Overview
Inquiry Question
To what extent is ‘race’ an important factor in treating diseases and other illnesses?
Background
Some researchers argue that one’s ‘race’ affects what diseases you are likely to get, and which treatment would be best for you. Other researchers say this is not accurate and is a racist approach to medicine. This is your chance to find out if the idea of ‘race’ has any place in medical treatments. In order to research this question you will need to read some material that is of a higher than usual reading level; academic journals. Some suggested links are provided.
Instructions
Research the connections between race and medicine. Here are some suggested Google searches:

2. After you have done your research and made good notes, answer the question “To what extent is race an important factor in treating diseases and other illnesses”? Remember that a “to what extent” argument is asking you to make a judgement about “how much” – a little, somewhat, significantly, a lot? Use examples from this project to back up your argument
3 How you structure the project is up to you. Consider presenting your thinking as a video, essay, graphic organizers, mind map, or another format or combination of formats you think would work well. You can write down your argument, and/or record yourself talking. Talk to your teacher if you have any questions.
