Overview
Complete a term paper of 11 pages that traces the history of an idea of the Religious awakening. In your paper, you must show how this idea changed/developed over time. This assignment requires engagement with primary sources from the relevant time period and secondary sources that are scholarly and historical analyses of the topic. Your paper should show significant engagement with assigned primary sources, and also discuss at least 4 secondary sources (books or articles) directly relevant to your subject. You must cite these sources properly, preferably in the style of Kate Turabian’s Student’s Guide to Writing College Papers (University of Chicago Press), which is the style used by academic history books and articles. You should avoid sources such as internet sites of dubious reliability (Wikipedia, etc.), encyclopedias, and popular magazines.
This is in relations to figures such as William Ellery Channing, Charles G.Finney, and their ideologies. It's more in the lines of the rejection of the Enlightenment by the evangelical protestants( Finney). and Channing and the Unitarians in relations to their rejection of Christianity. How was these ideas controversial and reject the Bible (i.e the holy trinity) and most importantly how did this idea express an idea of freedom.
