My area of research focuses on The Impact of Trauma of Divorce on African Immigrant Youth. This study will be a qualitative-phenomenological research approach. The qualitative-phenomenological approach allows the researcher to examine the lived experiences of African Immigrant youth who have gone through trauma because of their parents' divorce from a personal and cognitive perspective (Creswell & Poth, 2018). I do not have a proposed defense date in view, but I am working towards early next year. I currently have almost 80 articles that I plan to review and categorize according to the topics and sections of my research I want to deal with. As I have been gathering research articles, I have found that there is a lack of comprehensive studies that specifically address the unique experiences of African immigrant youth in the context of divorce trauma. I plan to have biweekly discussions with my assigned chair to ensure that I am on the right track and should be able to address any concerns about my dissertation process. It is better to break down the process into session by session than to provide much information that may not be relevant to my research. So, I am going to be focusing on chapter one and part of chapter two since I have developed the foundation in my previous course (EDCO900). Although I know the dissertation is a marathon race, I have decided to finish strong.

This is my working scripture for this dissertation process. The Lord, who has helped me from the beginning of the journey of this course, will see me through till I complete and receive my degree.
