Religious studies

Overview

Please use the attache materials only. do not use outside material. Use 12 point type and proofread before submitting. Answer all questions: 1, 2, and 3. Follow instructions carefully for each essay question and provide as many facts from the lectures as possible. No internet information allowed and no consulting with another student during the exam - both are considered plagiarism and there will be a severe point reduction. Proofread, proofread, proofread.

1. In an essay, based on lectures, describe the teachings of the itinerant preacher known by scholars as the Other Builder in 1 Corinthians and Paul's teachings which counteract the Other Builder's teachings. (Include paragraph divisions where appropriate.)

2. In an essay, based on the lectures, describe the conflict between Paul and the Deutero-Paulinist. First describe the religious content (beliefs about God, Christ, how to be a Christian, salvation/end times of Paul in his undisputed letters (1 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Philippians, Philemon, Galatians, and Romans. There should be quotes from each of these letters highlighted from the lectures.) Then, with quotes, describe the theology (religious beliefs about God, Christ, how to be a Christian, salvation/end times) of the Deutero-Paulinist writer of Colossians and Ephesians. In your own words state how each of these categories differ from Paul's undisputed letters. There should also be appropriate paragraph divisions throughout the essay. The more specific facts from the lectures the higher your grade will be. Vague, general answers will not receive a high grade. PROOFREAD.

3. Identify the writer of each of the passages stating whether it is by Paul or the Deutero-Paulinist and give a reason for your decision for each passage based on the content. Do not say, the quote is from 2 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians is by Paul, rather give a reason based on the content of the quote.
