Overview
Students will submit an assessment and treatment plan for a hypothetical trauma-related clinical case scenario about a client who has been exposed to a traumatic event and who has symptoms related to that trauma. Students will create their own hypothetical clinical case scenarios based on their clinical, work, or internship experience or one from the professional literature. Their assessment of the clinical case scenario will cover the following minimum areas: clients presenting problem(s), needs, strengths, DSM V diagnosis(es), social functioning, family functioning, and available resources. The treatment plan will extensively detail how the student would use a specific clinical approach/intervention (such as Psychoeducation, Emotional Processing, Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET), Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-Processing [EMDR], Cognitive Processing Therapy [CPT], Accelerated Resolution Therapy [ART] etc.) to help the traumatized client. They will also address why they selected the specific approach/intervention to be used with the client, along with a brief summary of research findings supporting that approach/intervention. Each assignment will provide a detailed treatment plan that includes a minimum of 3 clinical goals with 3 related objectives for each goal.
