Overview

  • ORGANIZATION GUIDELINES:
    • Title Page in APA format
    • Outline Page that contains thesis statement and outline of body of paper
    • The Paper in APA format.
    • Reference Page in APA format.
      • The title page, outline page, and reference page does not count towards your paper length.
  • BASIC GUIDELINES FOR PAPER:
    • Paper must be no more than 8 page (excluding title page, outline, and reference page)
    • You are allowed to use 8 sources, but not more than 10. Sources should not be older than 2015.
      • 5 sources must be peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles.
      • 3-5 additional sources can be scholarly journal articles, professional magazines (ex. Police Chief, FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, Corrections Today, etc.), government documents, and/or credible websites.
      • Required sources does not include the following: newspapers, personal communications, entertainment magazines, blogs, and any source that is not credible.
    • Do not use quotes in your paper (including direct and block quotes).
    • Do not use contractions within your paper.
    • Do not include an abstract, listing items, tables, charts, or figures in your paper.
    • Do not use paragraph headers. Use proper transitional sentences
  • FORMATTING GUIDELINES:
    • Grammar, spelling, organization, and sentence structure counts towards your grade!
    • Times New Roman 12-point font
    • 1 inch margins (top, bottom, left, and right)
    • Double space your paper (remove extra spacing between paragraphs)
    • Do not bold any part of the paper or right justify
    • Only type in black ink.
  • THE PAPER
    • Pick a persuasive topic related to child maltreatment.
    • Conduct preliminary research on the topic. You can use AI to help with your preliminary research and narrow down your topic but cannot use it to write your paper.
