The paint that I chose to, "Shy Glance", by Dawn Marie Jingagian . I see the patterns there is a subtle repetition of curving lines, organic shapes in the background, I also see contour of the hair and face. These shapes create a flowing continuous texture that form a pattern across the left side of the portrait. The artist uses colors, like browns, oranges, and pinks to create a calm, yet intriguing atmosphere. The eye emphasized the main focus, standing out because of its larger size and the sharp contrast between its bright white and the darker background. Though the painting is not perfectly balanced, with more detail on the right side, the soft, repeated shapes of the hair help to create sense of flow and harmony through out. I see patterns, contrast, emphasis, balance, harmony, proportion, and rhythm in this painting. The overall effect makes the viewer feel as though the subject is shyly hiding, but still watching with a quiet intensity.
