Intersectional Policy Analysis Project
Assignment Overview
As a team, you will examine a social policy at the local, state, or federal level enacted by the legislative, executive, or judicial branch of government. The policy may address a social issue that directly or indirectly affects the clients served by your field placement, your agency of employment, your community, or those you plan to work with after graduation. You will then analyze the policy to see how it impacts different groups.
This assignment will develop your critical thinking and policy analysis skills. By engaging in this project, you will gain a deeper understanding of how social policies are formulated, implemented, and evaluated, and how they affect diverse populations. This exercise will also help you apply theoretical concepts from the course to real-world scenarios, enhancing your practical skills in social work policy analysis.
This assignment serves as one of the summative assessments in this course. The formative tasks you have completed, including weekly discussions and smaller assignments, have been designed to prepare you for this comprehensive analysis. I will provide feedback on your group presentation and written report, focusing on both the content and the collaborative process. This feedback will help you identify strengths and areas for improvement, supporting your continued growth as a policy analyst.
