Overview
Thinking about the leader you chose to write about in your Biography (please see the attached paper that you wrote on Barrack Obama), use the following prompting questions to write a two-page reflection about your leader (Barrack Obama). Connect his actions, behaviors, and/or beliefs as a leader to some sort of social/societal concept brought up in our class discussions and readings.
- In terms of what you know about social science research (from our readings and discussions), what obstacles or challenges did your leader face? And how would those obstacles/challenges shape him/her as a leader?
- For example, we know from social science research, that some people experience inequities across all aspects of their lives. They may not have had access to the same opportunities or resources as others. How have those realities shaped who they are and what they did as a leader?
- We also know from social science research, that one's environment can shape one's trajectory in life. How did your leader's environment or upbringing shape the groups they chose to lead?
- For example, some of your leaders grew up in homes without two parents. What connections could you draw from that particular experience and the people they chose to lead, serve, and fight for?
