After you do the first reading (Poggi) in the week 9 folder, reflect on the following question: Think of important goals that you would like to achieve in life and share them with the class. Think of people directly in your lives or people you know through relatives and friends who can be allies as you try to achieve these goals. Give an example of someone that you actually know of who can obtain advantages for you through customand an example of someone who can obtain advantages for you through command. Describe how they are able to obtain these advantages and help you, try to be specific as to why they have more power than the average person. Comment on two people's posts. |
PART2) After you do the second (Harrignton) reading, try to reflect on the following. Who are the broligarchs according to Harrington and what do they want (provide a quote as her interpretation might be different than what other people think)? They seem to have power based on class. According to you and the article do they have power based on status and party? Why or why not (150 words).
