Identify and give examples of your experience with direct costs (direct costs are those items of expense to be incurred by a human service agency for the benefit of only 1 program). Examples of direct costs include the following:
- Salaries and wages of staff who work for only 1 program.
- Materials and supplies used for the benefit for only 1 program.
- Travel costs associated with only 1 program.
- Equipment used by only 1 program.
Explain why it is important to know the total cost (indirect and direct) of a human service program.
