photography

Overview

I find color in photography much more appealing. It allows more details to be seen and gives a sense of tone and story to the photo that black and white photos can't capture. I also find myself more drawn to movies that are in color than I am to black and white films. They are easier for the eye to understand what is happening in both photos and film when they are in color. I think color is much more appealing to the general population in the 21st century. Many people in the 21st century had color TV, movies, and photographs for the majority or even the entirety of their lives. Color is simply more palatable and easier to view for the general population in the 21st century.

Seeing photographs in color gives a new view into the subject of the photograph compared to a black and white photo. Due to the rise of documentation in photography, color added a new layer to the meaning and impact of photos. Seeing the vibrant colors allows the viewer to get a better sense of the subject and causes a bigger impact to the viewer. For example the documentation photographs in wars especially have much more impact when the colors can be seen.

I personally love photographing colors. I think color is important to the story that is being told. Without color more detail is needed to convey a story. In all the art forms that I participate in, I use vibrant colors. I love painting with pinks and blues and oranges. The majority of my camera roll and things that I photograph are bright and happy colors. I enjoy black and white photos for the vintage/antique qualities that they have. I however love seeing colorized photos that were originally in black and white.
