Parole Officer Report – Summary & Recommendation
Name: Marina N. Diamond
Age: 25
Original Offense: Petty Theft (Misdemeanor Crime)
Sentence: 10 months in county jail and eligible for parole after 6 months
Time Served: 6 months
Facility: High Dessert Institution
Background:
Ms. Marina Diamond was convicted in April 2025 for stealing merchandise from the franchise brand Target in Victorville, California. The theft was done over a 3 month time period, the end totaling up to $973, Target security stopped her before she could have exceeded $1000.
At the time of the offense, Ms. Diamond was 24 and had no history of prior offenses. Ms. Diamond claimed her actions were due to not being able to have a stable employment history, had been disengaged from formal education since the age of 17 and independent since the age of 17 as well. Ms. Diamond was let go of her job with only a two day notice and this caused her to not be able to pay things like her rent on time. Ms. Diamond only had the public bus as a way of transportation which is why she was not able to find a new job in a timely manner as bus rides alone can take up a while to reach their destinations. At the time of the offense she also had a 1 year old child to provide for with no one to help her take care of it as the grandparents refused to help Ms. Diamond and there was no father present. Ms. Diamond would continue to resell the stolen items for cash and use said cash to buy essentials like baby diapers, and baby formula.
During incarceration, Ms. Diamond completed a GED program, participated in community work programs (CWPs), and vocational training in HVAC systems. Her behavioral record shows no incidents while incarcerated and no disciplinary issues during the time of her stay at the facility. Ms. Diamond was never involved in any altercations, or any kind of violence.
She has secured a verified job offer from a local HVAC company at Food4Less and has a stable reentry plan, including housing with her grandmother in Apple Valley California.
Recommendation:
Grant Parole – Based on Ms. Diamond's positive institutional behavior, and her realistic, supportive reentry plan, I recommend that parole be granted. While the original offense was serious, Ms. Diamond has shown consistent effort toward personal reform and is now considered not a risk and an aid to the community. A parole supervision level is advised for the first 5 months post-release, and Ms. Diamond must maintain her employment. Granting Ms. Diamond parole would allow her to show the resulting capabilities of reforming individuals in jails, and will also give Ms. Diamond an opportunity to do better and raise her child with the help of a family member.
