For this assignment, you will complete a criminal report that includes forms CR-1, CR-2, CR-3, and CR-4. All the forms you need are attached at the bottom of this post. Choose one of the following California Penal Codes for your report: PC 273.5 (infliction of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant), PC 242 (battery), PC 459 (burglary), or PC 211 (robbery). Once you’ve chosen your Penal Code, fill out all four report forms with made-up information. Include details such as the victim, suspect, location, case number, and what happened. You can look back at your first report for guidance or check out the example in this week’s module titled “Example 2nd Assignment Report.”
Make sure to read and understand the elements of the Penal Code you choose, because your report must include those elements to be complete. When you finish, submit all four parts of your report together as one document (or in the format I’ve asked for). Be sure everything is filled out clearly, accurately, and professionally.
This assignment will help you practice writing clear and accurate reports, paying attention to legal details, and organizing information the way law enforcement professionals do.
