Overview
This assignment will help you explore the concept and application of generalist social work practice, which forms the foundation of all social work roles. Generalist practitioners work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities, using a variety of methods and theoretical frameworks.
You will respond to a case example and demonstrate how a generalist social worker would assess and intervene at different system levels.
- Read the Case Example (see below).
- Write a 2–3 page paper (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font) that includes:
- Definition of generalist practice and the planned change process.
- Assessment of the client’s situation at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
- Intervention strategies appropriate to each level of practice.
- Consideration of diversity, strengths, and ethical issues involved.
- Reflection: What skills would you need as a social worker to respond to this case?
