Discussion Board: Informative Speech Debrief

Note: Please complete this after you have submitted the Informative speech

Delivering a speech can feel uncomfortable and awkward. Learning more about yourself as a communicator can be a more fruitful experience when shared with others.

For this discussion board, respond to the question prompts below for your initial post,

  1. Overall, how did you prepare for the informative speech?
  2. How was this experience different from the Who Am I speech? What were you feeling leading up to the speech, during, and afterward?
  3. Identify 3 “GLOWS,” things you think you did well. Why do you think so? How are you planning to leverage those strengths for your next speech? Are these different from last time?
  4. Identify 3 “GROWS” areas you know need development for your next speech. How do you plan to address them? Are these different from last time?

If you choose to include the question prompts as part of your reflection, keep in mind they do not count toward your word count as they are not your own words. Please review the syllabus for word count requirements.

Grading

  • DB Post - up to 20 points (minimum of 150 words)
  • DB Responses - up to 10 points for each response (3 required to different classmates)
    • Minimum word count of 75 words for each reply. (If you choose to include the question prompts as part of your reply, keep in mind they don't apply toward your word count as they are not your own words.)
  • Total - up to 50 points

Note: Students must reply with a post before they're allowed to view and respond to others.
