Air Quality Laws and Regulations
Air quality laws and regulations have been ongoing for many years. According to Fu and Davis (2021) many countries have come together to enhance the air quality by reducing their emissions. This agreement had been rescinded by some countries which later came together and may new agreements with new countries. The air quality laws are not only country wide but, locally driven. Many states implement rules to keep their pollutants down. The consequence for not staying withing their agreed upon air quality and pollutant emissions limit is having the federal jurisdiction interfere in ensuring laws are maintained and the toxicity is kept at or below the desired level for a given area.
Air Cleanliness
A few days ago my discussion post answer may have been yes, that the air is fairly clean and that technology and governments, states etcetera are attempting to do their part to keep the air clean and breathable. I no longer have this opinion after using the air index tool last night to do the week 4 assignment. I saw that in my area the air quality index was around 82 and close by areas were in the 50's, I just checked and those areas are currently in the 60's. This means that the air is an irritant to people and too close for comfort from the do not go outside range. The manufacturers are doing their part by creating hybrid and electric vehicles. I am sure this has assisted in the air quality. However, the amount of vehicles on the road since I was a kid has tremendously increased, it appears. I recall people would car pool and taking public transit was intended to make things less complicated. As far as clean air for industrial businesses go I believe that some are attempting to limit their footprint while others are unable or do not care if it is not written in a law.
Cumbersome Level for Industry
Fu and Davis (2021) address regulations for industries and their tactics to implement them by a certain period of time. Based on the emissions that we still encounter I would say we are far off from being too cumbersome. It is good to have regulations in place. The emissions regulations are there in order to preserve the health and welfare of this planet and its inhabitants. By being lax on the regulations and not ensuring that they are being implemented, not having an ethical presence or immediate consequence, the ozone is allowed to deplete, global warming occurs and people are unable to take their children outside to play for fear of respiratory failure or worse long term effects with unknown causes, i.e. cancer, and reproductive disorders (Fu and Davis 2021).
Experiences and Reasons for Thoughts
There have been times which I have gone outside and I am unable to breath. This was due to the smoke in the air from something burning. I have also experienced this when people burn their trash and ignore the regulations in place on what to and not to burn and ignoring burn days. It is not easy to implement and regulate every person on the planet. However, if each one of us puts forth an effort to lead by example we can make this world a better place. This can be done by recycling, it takes a few seconds to use another bin. This will allow waste product to be reused instead of being placed in piles and heated and decomposing. Thus allowing more toxins to be permitted into the air breathed. There are other experiences and reasons for my thoughts composed above regarding traffic and carpooling. Lastly, as far as industrial pollutants they can choose to implement a culture of safety. A little bit goes a long way. For the companies that can not afford to break up their own waste, they can create different recycling bins. Compost, landfill and recycle. If each of us including the industrial persons chooses to do something about it then the air quality would be enhanced. It takes a team effort and it takes one person to start a change.
