Assignment 3: News Literacy Paper (21%)
In this assignment, you will analyze an online news story that is covered by two different outlets.
The goal of this assignment is to strengthen and reflect on your news literacy skills when
reading/watching/hearing the news. You are required to choose at least two news literacy tactics
discussed in class to analyze your chosen story from the two different sources. You will apply
these tactics to evaluate the credibility of each news outlet, the accuracy/validity of the news
reporting, and each outlet’s framing. Content is based on Weeks 8-9: Journalism and Democracy,
and News Literacy and “Fake News.”
