Overview
I evaluated your proposal this evening. You have done a lot of good work on the preparation of the proposal thus far. However, you will need to look at the embedded feedback and make appropriate edits in order to meet the requirements for submission. I suggest you email Brittany, who has almost completed her final project. She will provide you with her proposal as an example to follow to help you with organization. Sometimes it is just easier to see what it should look like. Alternatively, you can search Walden for recent qualitative pragmatic inquiry research projects.
The most important correction is in regard to the problem statement, purpose statement, and the research question. All of these must be in alignment and match how your prospectus was approved. This must be corrected in every section in the proposal, including the appendices. Look at the alignment section of the prospectus. Additionally, the proposal must match what you submitted to the IRB.
I would encourage you to utilize the MEAL Plan in your writing. Paragraphs begin with a main sentence discussing what the paragraph is about. There is a minimum of 3 sentences to each paragraph. The last sentence of a paragraph is a summary of what the paragraph was about. The middle paragraphs should have citations. You tend to write with run on sentences. My guess is that this is your first draft, and you are trying to get your thoughts down. That is fine, but you need to break up many of your sentences into smaller ones for clarity. The writing center can offer you edits of short sections. You will also find instructions on how to use the meal plan for writing.
You must be consistent regarding utilizing SME(s). Be consistent in how you use this. It is very distracting when you go back and forth. Additionally, if you are using HR be consistent with that also. Exception is if you need to spell it out for clarity for some other reason. I suspect this was caused by adding additional sections after others were written previously.
You write about different numbers of participants. The minimum number is 6. I would encourage you to keep the number at 6 after data saturation is reached.
You must clean up your comments about member checking throughout the document. You must also include triangulation and the public documents you will utilize. That is mentioned only in the final summary paragraph.
What is the overarching analytical procedure for qualitative studies (e.g., thematic analysis, Yin’s five-step process, etc.)? State the analytical procedure. This is from the review of your prospectus.
Read this and then give me a call so we can discuss. You can make these corrections without too much difficulty.
You need to utilize grammarly to help you with your writing. I want you to utilize that before submitting your work back to me. Additionally, use Reciteworks for help with your APA of references.
I emailed a checklist to you for you to complete the yellow portion. I will need that when you email the revised document.
