From what I understand is that Mise en Scene is the meaningful placement of everything that the audience can see in a scene. This means all actors, props, backgrounds, lighting, outfits, and even the movement all have to do with Mise en Scene. The goal through this is to create meaning and give a deep story-telling.
The fixed frame of a movie is heavily impacted by the director's choice on how to film a scene because viewers can only see what fits in the frame. The director has to carefully choose the placement and movement of every character, prop, and location in a scene to give a specific meaning. Everything in the frame helps give a visual story.
I think a challenge that directors can have from this is that they might have to leave things out since they might not be able to show everything at once with one fixed frame. They need to intentionally think about what to include and exclude from the scene. Making every small detail important to add depth into the film.
