After reading Chapter 6 and learning about film acting, I realized that acting in movies is much more than just memorizing lines. A good performance helps the audience connect with the characters and makes the story feel believable. Film acting is usually divided into four basic categories: screen personality, realism, stylization, and impersonation. Screen personality is when actors use their own natural charm or personality in most of their roles, making them recognizable no matter what character they play. Realism focuses on making characters feel like real people by expressing genuine emotions and believable reactions. This style helps viewers become emotionally invested in the story. Stylization is different because actors use exaggerated movements, expressions, or speech to fit a specific style or genre, such as fantasy, comedy, or musicals. Instead of acting exactly like real life, the performance matches the tone of the film. Impersonation happens when an actor transforms into a real person or someone very different from themselves. This often requires changing their voice, appearance, body language, and mannerisms to accurately portray the character. Each of these acting styles plays an important role in filmmaking because they create different experiences for the audience. Some movies need realistic performances to make the story feel authentic, while others rely on stylized acting to create a unique atmosphere. No matter which category is used, strong acting helps bring the script to life and allows viewers to connect with the characters on a deeper level. It also shows how much preparation and skill actors put into making a film believable and entertaining.
