Hello everyone,

When I read a movie script, I think of it as a blueprint instead of a finished story. Unlike a novel, a screenplay is not meant to entertain readers with long descriptions or detailed thoughts from the characters. It mainly includes dialogue, important actions, and basic directions that help the cast and crew create the film. Because of that, reading a script can seem simple or even unfinished until all the visual and audio elements are added.

What makes movies unique is that the director has the power to give the script its own personality. The same screenplay can feel completely different depending on the director’s choices. For example, a family eating dinner could be filmed with warm colors, soft music, and close up shots to show love and comfort. Another director could use dim lighting, silence, and wide camera angles to make the exact same dinner scene feel awkward or full of tension. Even though the words in the script never changed, the audience would have a very different emotional experience. This shows that a screenplay provides the basic structure, but the director’s style, camera work, sound, and visual decisions are what truly shape how the story is understood by viewers.
