Hello,
My name is Alice, and i do not have any nicknames.
I’m currently studying Animal Science/Biology, building on my background as a Registered Veterinary Technician. I love science, medicine, and animal care, so this major feels like the perfect fit for both my academic goals and my career path. I’m taking this course as part of my major of biology for transfer, as i will be transferring into an Animal Science/Biology program at Cal Poly Pomona.
My last vacation I spent time outdoors, explored new places, and let myself slow down after a busy stretch of work and school. It wasn’t a flashy trip, but it was exactly what I needed. I found myself with my extended family on a trip to Kern River with a side "day trip" to the Red Wood Forest. It was beautiful, hot, but amazing having spent days in the river.
I am currently working fulltime and taking 7 units online. I find that online works better for my schedule since i have an unpredictable schedule with my work. I care for animals every day, both professionally and personally. Pets definitely count. I have 4 dogs, 16 year old named Lily Rose, a 13 year old named Dante (named after Dante's inferno), a 12 year old named Mickey Mouse, and a 1 & 1/2 year old named Ladybug. They are all Boston Terriers except Dante who is a chihuahua mix of some sort.
I have a lot of experience with Word, Excel, Power point, etc. but I'm less savvy with Google spread sheets even though i know how to use it. I have to use web based software at work and everything in now online, from out in house blood test machines, to digital x-rays and veterinary software. My day is spent with a lap top or iPad in hand! This is my third year using Canvas and I am pretty well versed in this application. I have a PC, and and IPAD, so I'm comfortable with both. My VARK questionnaire said I am "VAK Selective" type of learner, and i do agree with the assessment.
I look forward to the scientific aspect of this course since I've lived by the ocean in the past. I considered volunteering at the Wild Life Way Station in Seal Beach/Los Alamitos area but at the time I had small children and didn't have the time. Living near the beach is a wonderful amazing place and I cant wait to learn about it.
