Accounting Question

Overview

After a description of the author’s argument or presentation, the review must discuss the strengths, weaknesses, and implications of the author's argument. The assignment should adhere to proper Turabian formatting: notes-bibliography style.

Notes:

Your article review needs to do two things: summarize the argument of the article and then critically engage with the argument.

Critically engaging does not mean tearing down. It means being thoughtful and intentional about what you are reading.

It is a good thing to talk about the strengths of the argument. Commending the good things that the article does is its own form of critical engagement.

Here are some questions you could ask as you critically engage with this writing:

Are there places where the argument could be carried further? (i.e. you liked what was said but you wanted it to be carried further)

  1. Are there limitations to this argument? (i.e. it may be good for one purpose but could be taken too far. Tell me about that!)
  2. Does the author persuade you that this is a critical need in the church or academy today?
  3. Did the article persuade you? Why or why not?
