Overview
Tax returns should be turned in, stapled, using the following order:
Tax forms (In the correct IRS order)
The answers to Rachel’s questions (building basis and travel cost deduction explanation.)
Workpapers (neat and organized) – You can use Excel or Word, but make sure you show all calculations and explain why you chose those items/objects in calculations. However, simple calculations shown on forms/schedules are not required.
Schedule B is not required. If you include the child tax credit, Schedule 8812 is not required as long as you include the calculations for the credit in your workpapers. Form 8283 is also not required. Other forms and schedules that are simply calculations for the numbers on the return are not required.
The following forms ARE required: Form 1040, Schedule 1, Schedule 2, Schedule A, Schedule C, Schedule E. If you have any questions about whether any other form needs to be included, please ask your supervisor.
