2-2 Activity: Using Filters and Statistical and Stratification Commands

Overview

While Audit Command Language (ACL) and other data analytics are powerful tools, there are many functions that can be performed in Microsoft Excel. This assignment demonstrates how this common tool can be used to identify fraud.

Prompt

Using the data sets from Chapter 3 of ACL, perform commands in Microsoft Excel similar to those you will work with in the ACL textbook assignments. An Excel template is provided to assist in the completion of this assignment.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

  • Using the Empmast tab in the template, create a table in Excel that sorts salaries from lowest to highest.
  • Using the Duplicates tab, explain how duplicates can be found in the Trans table.
  • Provide the correct formula for total value of unit cost and sales price fields in the Inventory tab.
  • Create an aging table using the AR Aging tab.

What to Submit

Your activity must be submitted as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Different tabs should be used in the Excel workbook for each critical element. All comments can be inserted into Excel.
