Hello Classmates!
When I was going through the AICPA link for information on the cpa exam, something that really stood out to me in the AUD section was the emphasis on risk assessment and professional scepticism. What I took away was that the exam expects you to understand a client's environment, identify their biggest risk, and, with that information, choose the right audit procedures. I do have a friend who works in the audit world, and from what I gathered from him, this does line up and makes the exam seem more practical. I also noticed the test isn't just an exam going through your knowledge of definitions but has tasks that are scenario-based, where you are required to think through a situation and decide what an auditor should do.
Even though I do not plan on taking the CPA exam, it was still interesting to see how the AUD section is built and what skills are considered important. It made auditing feel more like problem-solving and less like checking numbers, which I actually enjoy.

The Internal Audit Practitioner (IAP) certification is a logical choice for individuals who have not yet completed their bachelor’s degree but want to start building a professional foundation in auditing. This certification appeals to me, as I’ve been working in accounting for over 25 years but have not yet completed my degree.
Unlike many professional certificates that require a degree as a prerequisite, the IAP focuses on core auditing principles and practical skills, making it accessible to both students and those early in their careers (The IIA, 2025). Passing this exam demonstrates your professional credibility and provides a competitive edge for entry-level roles in internal audit or related fields. Earning the IAP certification lays the groundwork for a successful career in auditing while keeping the door open for future certifications, such as the CIA or CRMA certificates.
