Overview

• Look at the two attached pictures. One is a Renaissance work by Raphael Crucifixion, c.1502-03 and the other is a Baroque work by Rubens Elevation of the Cross, 1611. Using these two images as comparison, discuss what is particularly Baroque about the STYLE of Rubens's picture. Also, discuss how Rubens's style relates to different aspects of the Counter Reformation.
