Overview
From the early Renaissance through the Baroque period, styles and movements changed drastically. This is evident in three statues of the Biblical David of the Old Testament, who fought the giant Goliath, created by the best artists of their eras.

Donatello created his David (left) slightly under 5' in height in 1434. It was the first unsupported bronze nude since the time of the Greeks and Romans. His David rests after conquering the giant Goliath. Michelangelo (middle) carved his David in marble, slightly larger than life-size, in 1504. His nude David calmly sizes up the enemy, just before the battle. Bernini (right) completed his marble life-size figure in 1624, showing David somewhat clothed and entering the battle. Consider that all three were created just within two centuries.
Topic: Discuss the differences between the three statues, but let's go beyond the obvious physical characteristics, and talk about the art movements and attitudes that reflect the artists' particular times and the art styles of each artist.
Which version of David would you want to be your champion against Goliath, and why?
