Overview
However, due to the circumstances of Covid, if you cannot actually visit a gallery or museum you are welcome to do a virtual tour and pick an artwork from that tour to write about. There are plenty of virtual tours available for free. Here is a link to just a few:
https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2020/mar/23/10-... (Links to an external site.) Our college has a wonderful Museum (Weatherspoon Museum of Art) on campus. If you can, go check it out!! Write an evaluation and analysis of the exhibition and a work of art. Your written response should be typed, double spaced, in 12-point font, and at least 2 pages. Information and questions to be covered in the analysis: 1. Gallery, Exhibition, Artist, Title of the artwork, Date, Medium/media, Size/dimensions 2. Artist (Give some background information about the artist.) 3. Analysis: Describe the work of art. Be specific using elements and principles of design! 4. What type of work is it? (painting, sculpture, photography, etc.) 5. Subject Matter (What do you see in the work? Is it representational, abstract, or non-objective?) 6. Content (What ideas, feelings and moods are communicated through the work of art?) 7. Form (What elements are dominant? - line, shape, mass, texture, color, and value?) (How are the principles used to organize the elements? - Harmony, Variety, Balance, Emphasis, Movement, Rhythm, Proportion, Dominance?) 8. Criticism (What are your personal feelings about the work of art?)
