Overview
MAIN PIECE OF ART AKA Water-Moon Avalokiteshvara: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/50...
Part 1 - Formal Description
This is a detailed visual description of the object. Your task here is to describe the object, and can consider the elements and principles of art (proportion, color, form, line, space, etc.) materials, and style. Do not interpret or evaluate, instead describe your piece in as much detail as possible, leaving out any details that rely on research. This is a creative writing exercise, not a research exercise, and is more challenging than it sounds. Imagine you were describing the object to someone who could not see it; what would you say?
Part 2 - Annotated Bibliography
a. A list of at least 5 sources you are using to research your object in MLA format.
b. Must include a minimum of 3 print sources (books or journals) written after 2000 and found using the COD library catalog, complete with stable link to the source.
c. Each entry must include a 3 sentence statement that 1) summarizes the source, 2) explains its relevance to your project, and 3) identifies the author or institution of origin and why they should be trusted on the topic.
Example:
Colantuono, Anthony, and Steven F. Ostrow, editors. Critical Perspectives on Roman Baroque Sculpture. The Pennsylvania State University Press, 2014. https://i-share-cod.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01CARLI_COD/1ptui00/alma991120156979705816
"This book is an edited volume of essays by a variety of authors exploring critical approaches to Baroque sculpture. The source is relevant to my project since at least one chapter discusses French Baroque sculpture of the 18th century. The editors are Anthony Colantuono, who hold a PhD from Johns Hopkins and is currently Professor of Art History and Archaeology at Johns Hopkins, and Steven F. Ostrow, who has a PhD from Princeton and is Professor of Art History at the University of Minnesota."
