One of the most oft-repeated piece of writing advice out there is to "show, don't tell." Alice LaPlante challenges that in chapter 5 of our textbook. Read chapter 5, pages 204-257. For our discussion, pull a detail from one of the two stories in this chapter (either "Brownies" or "Winner Take Nothing") and discuss whether or not that detail is "shown" or "told." Does that work? Do you wish it had been offered to us differently?

As always, post your initial post by Thursday, and respond to at least two classmates by Sunday at midnight.
