Class, for this the final week of the course, after attending to all the material, discuss where you see technology going in order to help those individuals who have disabilities. For instance, what have you learned about artificial intelligence (AI) as it might apply to disabilities. Use examples from what you have learned or observed.
Which disability do you believe would profit the most -- (please, don't all use autism). Do you see technology in the future being able to further quality of life for those with disabilities. Add whether you see mental health issues that are present with disabilities be lessened or cured with technology. If so or if not, support your answers with valid research.

*Week 8 Mini-Lecture*
Class, this is the last week of the course. We have gone from the beginning of the history of disabilities whereby those individuals who were born with or acquired forms of them were treated without respect, without compassion, or without civility by some (Wehmeyer et al., 2017) to where great strides have taken place with regards to laws, research, social awareness, and education. With the advent of technology that has occurred in the past several decades, the future looks better with regards to helping individuals have a better quality of life. We have seen some of the aforementioned come about such as with prosthetic limbs, hearing devices, mobile wheel chairs, hydraulic lifts, visual tools, and such (Wehmeyer et al., 2017).
Studies that go along with technological advances allow providers to better help their clients/patients attain a good quality of life. Programs that are in place in some areas help those who have disabilities be able to secure devices that will help them succeed with their daily lives (Wehmeyer et al., 2017). We have seen videos this term that illustrates how some who have been confined to wheelchairs can now get about and be part of family and social activities and how the aforementioned strengthens their feelings of self-worth and self-esteem. Therefore, looking forward for better advancement and newer technologies that will assist those with disabilities is positive as well as uplifting for patients, clients, families, and providers.
For this week, please view the two videos, listen to the audio and read the chapters then go to the discussion. Remember I drop the lowest score for the term (not attendance scores). Be sure to follow the deadlines for the discussions and get the exam in. The class closes at 5 pm on the 13th of March. Once closed, it cannot be reopened. The college has strict deadlines for us to get grades in.
