P.O.V.

Overview

There are three basic Points of View (P.O.V.) that you can write a story in, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Last week we explored when a story is told from a character's point of view, 1st person POV.

2nd, is when a story is told to reader through "you, you're," statements, making the reader a character.

3rd person, is when the story is told from some sort of omniscient, exterior point of view.

Read Chapter 6, pages 258-317. There are two short stories near the end of this chapter, "The Lady with the Little Dog" and "Moonrise." For your discussion, write what the POV is for each story, and how that impacts your understanding of the story. Imagine if the story was told in a different POV? How may that change the way you feel certain scenes or visualize settings?
