Annotated Bibliography

In the discussion this week, you conducted and synthesized primary research. In this Assignment, you will conduct primary and secondary research and prepare an annotated bibliography on research related to your Capstone Project in addition to researching employment statistics. This assignment will provide an evaluation of the research and interpretation of the data collected during the research process.

An annotated bibliography is a list of the possible sources you may use in your Capstone Project with a discussion of each source. Your reading this week includes information on formatting your annotated bibliography. Please also review the writing center information, which includes explanations and examples of an annotated bibliography: https://campus.purdueglobal.edu/page/annotated-bibliography

To complete the annotated bibliography, start by searching the electronic databases in the Library for credible sources related to the topic of your Capstone Project. Using the advanced search option, use keywords related to your topic to refine your search. You will also visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics site to review and interpret data related to occupational employment statistics in your chosen career. Your Assignment should include the following:

Part I: Annotated Bibliography

The four sources (one primary source and three secondary sources) should relate directly to the topic of your Capstone Project. Each source should be cited in proper APA format, and the citation should be followed with an annotation that includes: A summary of the article which highlights the key elements of the research, stating how it matches a professional area of interest related to your Capstone Project, and an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of this research.

Part II: Occupational Employment Statistical Analysis

For this section of the Assignment, visit the Occupational Employment Statistics site published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Search the list of occupations and find your career field. Scroll down the page to view the charts and statistics related to your career choice and respond to the following questions:

  • Which states have the highest employment level in this occupation? How does this compare with the state you live in?
  • Which states have the highest concentration of jobs and location quotients in this occupation? How does this compare with the state you live in?
  • What are the top paying states for this occupation? Does your state fall into this ranking?

    • A title page with identifying information
    • Part I: An annotated bibliography that addresses all the requirements for the four sources in paragraph format)
    • Part II: Answers to the questions focused on employment statistics.
In addition, be sure your assignment adheres to the following formatting:
    • Use standard margins: 1" on all sides
    • Use standard 12-point font size, Times New Roman or Arial
    • Use standard double spacing
    • Use left-aligned text (do not right justify)
Your Assignment should follow the conventions of APA formatting and citation style. You must demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard English. For additional writing help, please visit the Writing Center.

  • For my Capstone Project, I plan to create a behavior support toolkit designed for parents and teachers who work with young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The main objective of this project is to provide simple, practical, and evidence-based strategies to manage a few specific challenging behaviors, such as aggression, elopement, and task refusal. Instead of making it too broad, I want to focus on early childhood and create a clear, easy-to-use guide that includes tools like reinforcement systems, visual schedules, and functional communication strategies. This connects to my Professional Studies degree because it combines research, communication, and real-world application to solve a problem within my field. This project also aligns closely with my career goals. I currently work as an RBT, and my long-term goal is to become a BCBA. By creating this toolkit, I will be strengthening skills that are directly related to my future career, such as developing intervention strategies, understanding behavior patterns, and learning how to present information in a way that caregivers can actually understand and use. I also feel like this project could potentially become something I use professionally in the future or even expand on later in my career. The significance of this project is that it goes beyond just completing an assignment. It will help me apply what I’ve learned throughout my degree to a real-life situation, which is important for both my academic growth and professional development. It also supports families and teachers by giving them practical tools, which makes the project more meaningful. Overall, this Capstone Project will help me build confidence in my skills while also preparing me for the next step in my career.
