Overview
Hi, I need your help completing my final project for my CHEM 270: Frontiers of Science class. I’m attaching the syllabus, final project instructions, presentation details, and my proposal.
Please follow everything below carefully:
1. Topic & Research Question (IMPORTANT) Use my finalized research question: “To what extent does brain chemistry explain who we are?”
Focus on:
- Chemical signaling (neurons, synapses, neurotransmitters)
- How brain chemistry influences mood, behavior, and personality
- The limitations of explaining identity purely through biology (include environment, experiences, etc.)
2. My Current Progress (Use This & Build On It)
- I’ve finalized my research question
- I’ve created a general structure
- Key ideas:
- Brain chemistry affects mood, behavior, habits
- It plays a major role in identity
- BUT it does NOT fully explain identity alone
- I now need help:
- Adding strong scientific sources
- Making explanations clear and well-developed
3. Project Type
- Oral presentation with slides
4. Presentation Requirements
- Length: 4–5 minutes
- Must clearly explain the topic and findings
5. VERY IMPORTANT (CONNECTION BETWEEN WRITING & PRESENTATION)
- The presentation must be directly based on the written content (script/essay)
- First, fully develop the written explanation/script, then build slides from it
- Slides should reflect the same exact ideas, structure, and conclusions from the writing
- Do NOT add new information that is not in the written content
6. Slides Structure (Follow exactly)
- Title slide
- Research question
- Overview of brain chemistry
- How chemical signaling works
- How brain chemistry influences mood, behavior, personality
- Limits of brain chemistry
- Conclusion (answer the research question clearly)
- References
7. Content (VERY IMPORTANT)
- Scientifically accurate and well-researched
- Clear and easy to understand
- Include real examples (dopamine, serotonin, etc.)
- Must directly answer the research question
8. Slide Design
- Clean, simple, not too much text
- Bullet points only
- Visually clear
9. Speaker Notes (VERY IMPORTANT)
- Add detailed speaker notes for every slide
- Notes should match the written content and guide exactly what I say
10. Timeline (Follow this plan)
- First: Finish writing full content/script
- Next: Build slides from that writing
- Then: Add speaker notes and refine flow
- Final: Adjust timing to 4–5 minutes
11. STRICT REQUIREMENT (VERY IMPORTANT)
- NO AI USE AT ALL
- Do NOT use ChatGPT or any AI tools under any circumstances
- Work must be completely human-written and original
- No plagiarism, must follow academic honesty rules
12. Goal The final presentation should be clear, organized, fully aligned with the written content, and strongly answer the research question while meeting all rubric criteria
Let me know if anything is unclear before you start.
