Presenting and Evaluating Innovative Change

Overview

Assessment Description

Curriculum leaders play a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape, making it essential for them to examine an issue, create a solution, and gain buy-in from stakeholders in the process. These skills ensure they can effectively implement new educational strategies, curricula, pedagogical trends, and technological advancements to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Part 1: Elevator Pitch

As a curriculum leader at your school, one of your roles is to present innovative ideas to the staff. Research two advancements in educational technology, creative ways to integrate current technology, or innovative curriculum changes to propose to staff. Your administrator has asked you to present both options to the staff to get their feedback before a final decision is made.

Create a 150-300 word script for an elevator pitch explaining the need for the change and how each choice can support teachers and students. While you will not be sharing the presentation for this assignment, your pitch should demonstrate your ability to generate excitement and buy-in from teachers, while also demonstrating the importance their feedback plays in the selection process. Within your script include the following:

  • Describe the advancements in educational technology, creative ways to integrate current technology, or innovative curriculum changes that are being proposed.
  • Justify why the change is needed to support teachers and students.
  • Explain how teachers can provide their input on each option and the role they play in the selection process.

Part 2: Teacher Rubric

After completing your presentation to the teachers, they will have time to implement and assess the options. You will be providing a rubric for teachers to provide thoughtful and usable feedback on each option you have presented.

When used ethically and appropriately, leveraging an AI tool, such as MagicSchool or ChatGPT, can serve as a powerful resource in creating “first draft” content. Create a rubric using an AI platform and then apply your professional skills and judgment to refine and revise the final product.

Your rubric should include the following:

  • At least four categories or rows of evaluation.
  • Each row should have a clear description of what you are evaluating/rating. Each column should have a concise rating description to explain each rating value.
  • A space for teachers to leave qualitative feedback.

Part 3: AI Reflection

In a minimum of 100 words, reflect on the benefits and challenges of using AI in your role as a curriculum leader. Support your thoughts with examples from your rubric that needed to be revised using your knowledge and expertise in the field. Share at least one way the Professional Dispositions of Learners can support curriculum leaders in using AI ethically and responsibly.

Support the pitch, rubric, and reflection with a minimum of two scholarly resources, including a citation for your AI tool.

Submit your script, rubric, reflection, and scholarly resources as a single document.

While APA Style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
