Imagine you will be sharing a Proposal of the Capstone Project with your supervisor. You will create a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation in which you do the following:
- Slide 1: Title slide that includes assignment title, your name, course name, and date.
- Slide 2: Introduction discussing the main points of your Capstone Project and connection to your chosen professional field.
- Slide 3: Discuss ways to create a shared vision.
- Slide 4: Provide examples of the ways you can foster innovation and promote change.
- Slide 5: Discuss any ethical issues that you encountered during work completed to date with the Project and ways the issues were resolved.
- Slide 6: Discuss ways you can apply critical thinking skills to take the necessary steps to arrive at a logical solution or course of action.
- Slide 7: Discuss any challenges you face completing the project by deadline and ways to overcome these challenges.
- Slide 8: Discuss your growth as a leader through work on this Project.
- Slide 9: Reference slide
The presentation will consist of 9 slides (title slide, content slides, reference slide). Seven content slides (slides 2–8) require “speaker notes” of 250 or more words for each slide that explain the content of the corresponding slide. The title slide and reference slide do not require speaker notes. Your presentation must include at least one academic citation with corresponding reference (included on the slide and in the notes).
All content slides need images, bullet points on the slide for your main points, and notes in the notes section below the slide to compose your explanation of the slide’s content.
Grammatical/Format Requirements:
- PowerPoint presentation (.ppt or .pptx file) with 7 slides of content.
- Notes for each of the content slides (slides 2–8) should include speaker notes (250 words minimum) below the slide in the PowerPoint speaker notes area.
- Brief points should be included on the slide.
- Information should be organized clearly throughout the presentation.
- Identify the source of any pictures you use.
- Support from at least one source should be included in the presentation.
- Writing must adhere to Standard English with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Minimum submission requirements
All of the following requirements must be met, and are required for grading:
- Submission is a PowerPoint or Prezi
- PowerPoint or Prezi deck is 9 slides
- Content slides (2-8) have speaker notes of 250 words or more
- All content slides need images (not images built into PowerPoint themes)
- All content slides need bullet points for written content
- The source of each image needs to be identified
- At least one academic source is cited in the presentation (on the slide and in the notes) and listed on the reference slide
- This is my proposal
- For my Capstone Project, I plan to create a behavior support toolkit designed for parents and teachers who work with young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The main objective of this project is to provide simple, practical, and evidence-based strategies to manage a few specific challenging behaviors, such as aggression, elopement, and task refusal. Instead of making it too broad, I want to focus on early childhood and create a clear, easy-to-use guide that includes tools like reinforcement systems, visual schedules, and functional communication strategies. This connects to my Professional Studies degree because it combines research, communication, and real-world application to solve a problem within my field. This project also aligns closely with my career goals. I currently work as an RBT, and my long-term goal is to become a BCBA. By creating this toolkit, I will be strengthening skills that are directly related to my future career, such as developing intervention strategies, understanding behavior patterns, and learning how to present information in a way that caregivers can actually understand and use. I also feel like this project could potentially become something I use professionally in the future or even expand on later in my career. The significance of this project is that it goes beyond just completing an assignment. It will help me apply what I’ve learned throughout my degree to a real-life situation, which is important for both my academic growth and professional development. It also supports families and teachers by giving them practical tools, which makes the project more meaningful. Overall, this Capstone Project will help me build confidence in my skills while also preparing me for the next step in my career.
