Overview
Assignment Overview
In this assignment, you will explore how AI-based tools are used to support database design, querying, and management. You will select a free (or free-tier) AI tool related to databases, demonstrate one of its capabilities, and analyze how it connects to core database concepts covered in this course. The goal is not programming, but understanding how AI can assist database professionals while reinforcing foundational database knowledge.
What You Will Do
- Select a free or free-tier AI tool related to databases
- Access or install the tool
- Demonstrate one database-related capability
- Write a short analysis connecting the tool to course topics
Tool Selection (Choose ONE)
The following AI-based tools are suggestions only. You may choose any other AI database-related tool not listed below, provided it is approved and offers a free or free-tier option.

Note: Before starting, you must claim your tool in the “AI Tools for Databases - Tool Selection” discussion board.
- One student per tool
- First-come, first-served
Demonstration (5–7 Minutes)
Your recorded demo must show:
- How you accessed or installed the tool (web-based or local)
- One practical database task, such as:
- Generating or correcting an SQL query
- Explaining JOINs, subqueries, or constraints
- Creating an ER diagram or relational schema
- Explaining normalization (1NF–3NF)
- Analyzing a query using an EXPLAIN plan
- A brief explanation of:
- What database concept is involved
- Why the AI output is useful for learning or practice
Written Analysis (2–3 Pages, Font Size 12)
a. Tool Overview
- Tool name and source
- What the tool does
- Free or free-tier limitations
b. Usage Notes
- How you accessed or installed the tool
- Any issues encountered
- Supported platforms (web, Windows, macOS, Linux)
c. Database Course Alignment
Explain, in a few sentences, how the tool relates to the course.
d. Opportunities and Limitations
Briefly discuss:
- Opportunities: faster query writing, improved understanding, reduced errors
- Limitations: incorrect SQL, overreliance on AI, data privacy, free-tier limits
Deliverables (Submit in Canvas)
