Overview
Staying current on technology is an essential aspect of being an educator. Today’s students are digital natives, and they often respond better to media than to traditional methods of teaching. Having a strong technology repertoire is important as well as knowing how to obtain the technology needed for a diverse classroom. Often there is a process involved when selecting a new technology to use, especially if there are specific approvals needed by the administration or a cost involved.
Using the “Technology Matrix” template detail a variety of multimedia, technology, games, apps, and other technological tools for teaching math to students with exceptionalities. Keep in mind that technology can be either high- or low-tech. Include five technology tools/media/apps and address the following, in 100-200 words per tool. Within your matrix you must have one of each of the following:
- Online calculator
- Interactive presentation tool
- Collaborative math game
- Quizzing tool appropriate for math
- Assistive technology
Additionally, write a 250-500 word overview of the technology included in the matrix that addresses the following:
- How the technologies promote higher-order skills while meeting the diverse needs of students.
- Justify which of the technologies will be most beneficial to meeting the diverse needs and interests of all students.
- Describe how you might convince an administrator to help you access and/or acquire one of the technologies from your matrix for your classroom.
Support the matrix and overview with 3-5 resources.
