Module 2 - SLP

Recruitment of Applicants

SLP Assignment

For this SLP assignment, begin with a review of your previous work thus far in this course. Review the required readings/videos and prepare a submission as noted under SLP Assignment Expectations.

Next, research some of the tools and platforms that instructional designers can use to create courses adaptable to different learners and contexts. There are tools for every job function in course design—something for everyone. These first three groups are the ones I am most familiar with and use in my line of work. I am familiar with the next three, too, but I do not use them every day or week. Do some research on them, too, and maybe you will fall in love with one of these tool groups!

The one you may be the most familiar with is the Trident University Learning Management System (LMS), which is Brightspace. Other examples of these platforms include Moodle, Canvas, and TalentLMS. The purpose of LMS platforms is to organize and deliver course content, track student progress, and manage student assessments. These can often be adjusted for different learner needs, such as adding accessibility to course documents and the LMS itself.

Another tool type that course designers use are authoring tools, such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, and iSpring Suite. The purpose of this tool set is to create interactive courses. One of the important facets of this tool is that it allows making changes to be a simple process. Like a lot of software applications, once you know one application, others are easy to learn.

A third type of tool used nearly every day by course designers are apps for creating videos and for editing content. The three most popular of these are Camtasia, Powtoon, and Vyond. Powtoon brings a bit of whimsy into courses, and that makes online learning a bit more fun. One of the great things about this type of tool is that they can also be written in different languages for schools with international students.

There are other types of course design tools that are useful for anyone working in this growing field. Conduct an internet search for Collaboration and Engagement tools, Accessibility and Adaption tools, and Open Education Resources prior to addressing the last question in the SLP assignment.

In your essay, address the four parts of the assignment:

  1. Explain the concepts of an internal and external recruitment process.
  2. Compare and contrast the internal and external recruitment process at your current workplace.
  3. How does your company’s recruitment process compare to its top competitor?
  4. Review the tools course designers use and determine which one you would prefer to use to create content that is attractive to a global audience. Explain your choice.

Assignment Expectations

Refer to background readings and what you have found in the Trident Online Library. Cite all sources used to help you through these steps. Support your discussion of key concepts in this SLP assignment with at least two high-quality references found in a peer-reviewed journal or textbook from the Trident Online Library. In addition to these two new references, cite any references used from the assigned readings.

Use the assignment template.

Your essay submission should be 2-3 pages, not counting the cover page and reference list page. Use Times New Roman (or Arial) size 12 font; double-space everything, including references, but do not add extra spacing between paragraphs or after headings; and make sure your margins are one inch on all four sides. You can view how the cover page content should appear in the sample paper found in the APA Style, 7th edition. Student papers do not require a running head on any page. In addition, students are not required to include an Abstract. Your paper’s title should be above the first paragraph on page two (there can be no paragraph with the heading of “Introduction”). Last, all pages must have a page number in the top-right corner and nothing else in the header with the page number.

See the Trident guide to APA Style, 7th edition

Your submission will be assessed on the criteria found in the grading rubric for this assignment.
