Overview
SPOL 635 Behavior Recordings and Data Paper InstructionsCandidates will research different methods to collect student behavior data and report their findings. This assignment will contain two parts and both parts will be submitted together in one paper/submission.
Part One
Please complete 1 and 2 for each of the following four behavior recording methods discussed during the course: (1) Duration Recording, (2) Event Recording, (3) Latency Recording, and (4) Interval (Whole) Recording.
- Define, in your own words, each behavior recording method.
- Provide a detailed example/scenario, in your own words, for each behavior recording method.
Part Two
This document assumes you have given 10 students the forced-choice reinforcer survey found in the week 4 content folder. The results of the 10 students you surveyed demonstrated the following responses:
Adult Approval (A) – 85 responses
Examples (A) – Verbal compliments from an adult; positive written feedback from an adult; etc.
Competitive Approval (CM) – 50 responses
Examples (CM) – Recognition for being the first student to finish an assignment; prominent display of student work in classroom; etc.
Peer Approval (P) – 95 responses
Examples (P) – Ability to choose partner(s) for group work; peer roles (e.g. passing out supplies, class leadership position); etc.
Independent Rewards (I) – 120 responses
Examples (I) – Ability to choose free time activity (e.g. play game on electronic device, choose book); choose how to complete an assigned activity (e.g. group, individual); etc.
Consumable Rewards (CN) – 50 responses
Examples (CN) – Choice of food, supplies, toys, etc. that can be used/consumed by the student.
You will use this data to complete the following for part two:
- Create a chart/graph in Excel using the five data points given above. There are many free Excel chart/graph tutorials online. You will copy and paste your chart/graph into your paper.
- Please write at least a 2 page reflection on the following: How could you utilize behavior surveys overall in your classroom(s)? Given that classroom dynamics change every year, how would you adapt your classroom(s) depending upon a particular survey’s results?
The assignment should be typed, double-spaced, default margins, Times New Roman, font size 12, and submitted in the Microsoft Word or PDF format.
