Several management styles and leadership theories have been said to be effective in leading healthcare teams.
- Select one style or theory that you feel is the most effective.
- Describe the theory.
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of that leadership theory.
- Compare and contrast at least one other management style or leadership theory to your selected one.
- Explain how you, the manager, would apply it to leading your team and how you would evaluate your effectiveness.
- Write a 3-to-4 page paper in APA format. Include at least three references.

Traits of a Leader Interview
- Identify an effective leader in your organization that you would like to learn from. This could be your immediate supervisor or someone else that interests you. ***Medical Office Manager***
- Develop questions and then interview him/her to solicit ideas for yourself on how you can become a more effective leader. Topics to cover include:
- Leadership approach or style
- Communication strategy and style
- How they measure their success
- What is their opinion of their staff
- Any other questions you would like to ask him/her
- Write a 3-to-4 page paper using APA, document your interview questions and thoughts. Include at the end of the paper a personal reflection on what you learned about effective traits of a leader, and how you will apply these traits in your own situation.
*****Do I need to interview an actual leader or can do I make up hypothetical questions? The goal is to interview an actual leader for this assignment. If you are not able to find a leader to interview, please let me know.
What is being asked of the rubric #1 point: Give a reflection of your leaders' interview? Here, you're being asked to detail what you learned (or what were your takeaways - good or bad) from the interview with your chosen leader. Did you glean anything that would make you a stronger leader? Did you identify areas where you may benefit from some of the lessons shared? Did you hear things that you did not agree with? I want to know your input and feedback and even how what you discussed may apply to you as a leader now and in the future.
The goal of this assignment is to reflect on what worked well for the leader and to see how you would apply those or similar initiatives to your situation. The goal is growth here.
