Campbell spent much of his academic career analyzing storytelling across various cultures as a means to interpret our common mythology. Thousands of years ago humans sat around campfires and shared stories. Mass communication is the modern equivalent with film and television replacing the campfire. Campbell digs into this and lays out commonalities that appear across cultures.
