Overview
The “Research Sketch” assignment is basically a preparation process for the final research project. We first choose a research topic and research question, then collect 10 academic sources related to the topic. After that, we select the 5 most helpful sources and write short notes about each one, including the main takeaway, how the source helps our research, and an important quote with the page number.
We also need to create a Google Drive “Sources” folder with PDFs of all sources, and if we use physical books, we need to upload photos of the book cover and the pages we quote from. The assignment is more about showing our research process, source collection, and early ideas rather than writing a full essay.
