Discussion Question:
Why do you think having a clear research question and purpose is the most important step in starting a research project?
Share an example of a business or customer question or issue (from work, school, or everyday life) that could be turned into a research study.
Respond to two students ( both discussions below)
1. The most important phase in beginning a research project, in my opinion, is to have a clear study question and objective. This will make the process a lot easier and save time. You can stay on course and find all the answers with less confusion if you have a precise research question. For instance, researching "why do kids have problems trusting people" is too general; instead, it would be more appropriate to focus on "how does exposure to parent conflict affect kids' trusting abilities at a young age." In this manner, you can look into several concepts rather than concentrating on just one. It also has a clearer focus.
2.I do think that having a clear research question and purpose is the most important step in starting a research project. I say this because this is the first step in the research process: it is known as defining the problem. If there is no question needing to be answered or solved their is no need for a research plan to happen. An example of this is would be at savannah state the Commons and the Village are the upperclassmen dorms and some people feel like one is better than the other. An argument that is brought up is how the Ville has a more modern look than the Commons. A research question could be does appearance affect students opinions on dorm decisions at Savannah State?
