In this assignment, you will evaluate how media plays a critical role in understanding as well as undermining the complexities of gender, race, and sexuality. This assignment will provide tools to analyze media in popular culture to understand representation (or lack thereof) for diverse groups. For this assignment, you must address each point outlined under each section. You must also provide specific evidence drawn from the course materials throughout your paper. You will submit your proposal to the Assignments folder. Media Selection:Before beginning your Media Analysis, which you will complete for Week 5, please propose the media you have selected for this assignment. Your proposal should be at least 2 paragraphs long and provide the following: - Choose a recent film or episode of a TV show that has aired or premiered in the past year for analysis.
- Introduce the TV show or film you will be analyzing. Include the following relevant information: release/air date, characters, and brief (4-5 sentences) plotline summary.
- Provide an explanation of why you chose the media you are proposing and how your selection will tie to relevant issues discussed in this course. Include in-text citations and references from at least 3 sources from the course to support your selection.
Writing Guidelines:This assignment will use at least 3 sources from the course to support your paper, and include the media used, for a total of 4 sources. Please be sure to cite your sources in the text where you use them and provide a references page at the end of your paper with the APA-formatted references for the sources you used.
