Critical Thinking #3

As an administrator of a small hospital, compare the use of a centralized computerized hospital pharmacy system using robots to the use of a decentralized point of use dispensing system.

Use course readings and cite any external references used.

In addition to course readings, you may cite any relevant personal and/or professional experiences. You will be evaluated on your ability to demonstrate a deep understanding in your summary. Write at least two paragraphs.

Submit your assignment to the instructor.

Week 5 Journal Log

Create a 1-2 paragraph summary of your healthcare organization evaluation challenges and/or deficiencies for your chosen heritage groups. Specifically, identify why cultural competency changes are needed. If you do not work in a healthcare currently, instead consider the medical organization where you obtain your own healthcare for an example.

Imagine you are a patient from your heritage group, what type of challenges are you facing? Consider the following topics in your summary:

  1. Why are patients in my heritage group not receiving optimal healthcare? Identify specific healthcare disparities for your heritage groups
  2. What type of healthcare organization structure is preventing optimal patient care?
  3. Are their any employee challenges that would make implementing transcultural changes challenging (i.e. culture, current attitudes, or lack of employee education)
  4. What are the current consequences for the organization, patients, and community resulting from the lack of cultural competency?
