Due Date
Sunday, June 14th @ 11:59 PM
Time Limit
3 - 5 minutes
** To the best of your ability, please remain within this time frame. A few seconds under or over is fine, but refrain from speaking significantly too short or long. Practicing remaining within your time constraints is an excellent speaking skill to master. **
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is for students to describe how they understand themselves as a group member through an intentionally and creatively organized collage. Students will orally and visually present their collage through a video recording.
Instructions
Students will curate a selection of images that represents their understanding of themselves as a group member. Students are responsible for recording and uploading a video of themselves elaborating on the reasoning behind the images selected for their Individual Profile. Some examples of what to include in Individual Profiles include, but are not limited to:
- Individual strengths that you bring to the table that contribute to effective group collaboration and how you plan to exemplify them this semester
- Areas you'd like to develop related to group work throughout your time enrolled in COMSTD-6
- Reflections on experiences working in groups (past or present)
- What success in group work means to you
Please feel free to discuss anything else that you think is relevant to who you are as a group member.
Record and submit a 3-5 minute long video to this discussion board by hitting "reply." You can either submit the video as a direct response or upload your video to YouTube using the "unlisted" option and then post the video link here. Please view the Uploading Your Presentation Videos page for more information.
Video Presentation Options
When preparing to present your Individual Profiles, there are two available options:
- Mediated Collage Presentation
- If students wish to present their Individual Profiles in a computer-mediated fashion, they should upload a video where the collage is the large focal point, and their own recording is the smaller video. The easiest way to go about doing this is through Zoom. Simply create a meeting with yourself, share your screen, hit the record button, and present. Once you are done presenting, you may stop your recording, and Zoom will either email you a video link or download the video straight to your computer, depending on the option you prefer and select. Please make sure that you are visible on camera if you choose this option.

- Physical Collage Presentation
- If students wish to present their Individual Profiles in a traditional hands-on manner, they must appear alongside a physical copy of their collage. This can be on paper or with the mediated collage on a device off to the side.
- If this format is chosen, it is important that the collage and images are clearly visible in the video recording for your audience to see.

- Physical Collage Option
- Students may opt to create their collage through a more traditional method, such as on a large paper or poster board.
NOTE: Images do not necessarily have to showcase the student and may be drawn from the student's personal galleries or online search engines. Photos should simply represent the aspect of themselves that the student wants to explain.
Nonverbal Delivery
Be sure to focus heavily on your nonverbal delivery. Some key habits to incorporate include:
- Eye-Contact: Portray excellent eye contact with the camera to instill trust in your audience.
- Vocalics: Ensure you are speaking with a loud, clear, and professional voice. Command attention and incorporate enthusiasm when appropriate. Avoid excessive filler words such as um, uh, and like.
- Purposeful Movement: Gestures, an open stance, and a professional posture can all work together to make you appear more credible.
- Attire/Video Background: Do your best to elevate your attire. Dress like the best version of yourself and consider appearing as professional as possible in your clothing choices. If possible, attempt to record your video against a neutral background, such as a blank wall.
- Fluidity/Confidence: Your audience wants to know that you have a handle on your content. Your presentation should be well-rehearsed and you should speak with confidence.
